Coming out of a historic 2017-18 season, the Georgetown men’s and women’s golf teams have much to look forward to this fall. Last year, both the men’s and women’s teams captured their respective Big East Championship titles. The women’s team has now won two consecutive Big East titles and the men earned their second championship in the past three years.

As perennial contenders in the Big East, both the men’s and women’s golf teams will have high expectations this coming season. With the departure of Jacquelyn Eleey, who won the individual title at the Big East Championship last season, the women’s team will hope the returning golfers and freshman Baili Park will pick up the slack.

The men’s team returns to action this fall with three new additions to the roster: Freshman Will O’Neill, sophomore transfer from Villanova Matt Barnes and junior Taso Scilaris.

Following last season’s Big East Championship, the men’s team went on to finish in 13th place at the NCAA Kissimmee Regional, while the women took 16th at the NCAA Austin Regional.

Over the summer, golfers Sam Madsen and Jacquelyn Eleey were named winners of the Big East Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award. Madsen, along with fellow recent graduate Jack Musgrave, were also named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.

The team will resume competition next weekend at the Fuzzy Zoeller Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Indiana. The Blue and Gray will compete in the Georgetown Intercollegiate in mid-October, an event which they won last year.

Georgetown women’s golf added one player to the roster this year, freshman Baili Park The team’s first test comes next Sunday at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan, S.C. hosted by College of Charleston.
