MSB Takes First in School Ranking

The McDonough School of Business took the top spot in Bloomberg Businessweek’s 2013 rankings for the best undergraduate business schools for finance.

The rankings were determined by student responses to a survey targeting the Class of 2013.

Students rated the finance program’s offerings on a scale from A to F with grade A responses awarded one point and grade F responses awarded five points. The results were then averaged to calculate a final score, with a lower number indicating higher ranking.

Out of 124 business schools surveyed, the average finance score was 1.45, but MSB received a score of 1.11, putting it at the top of the list.

Georgetown students responded to the survey noting MSB’s emphasis on quantitative finance as well as active student investment groups and recruitment from Wall Street firms.

More than half of Georgetown’s business students go on to work in financial positions after graduation while other schools in Bloomberg’s ranking only have about a quarter of students finding employment in finance.

Washington University’s Olin Business School and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School placed second and third, respectively.
