The Georgetown men’s golf team secured a fifth-place finish last weekend at the 2018 FAU Spring Championship, hosted by Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. Georgetown finished strong on Sunday with a team score of 276, finishing second only to Lynn University on the day.
The tournament was played at Osprey Point Golf Course, one of the top public golf courses in Florida.
The Hoyas finished with a three-day total of 857, led by top-10 finishes from senior Cole Berman and sophomore Eduardo Blochtein, who tied each other with overall scores of 212. Senior Sam Madsen carded a 68 on the final day and finished tied for 24th with a three-round score of 215.
Senior Jack Musgrave tied for 58th overall with a total score of 222 while sophomore Patrick DiPasquale tied for 91st at 228.
Lynn University, located in Baton Rouge, won the tournament with a total score of 826, accompanying UConn (845), Jacksonville State (850), Houston Baptist (851), Georgetown (857), Florida Gulf Coast (858) and Oakland (860) as the only teams to finish under par for the tournament.
The next challenge for Georgetown men’s golf comes after Easter weekend, when the team travels to Greenville, N.C. to compete in the ECU Intercollegiate. The Hoyas have three more events before the Big East Championship, which begins April 29th at Callawassie Golf Club on Callawassie Island, S.C.
