The Georgetown softball team has continued to struggle offensively, as the Hoyas dropped their first two games of Big East play Saturday.
Sophomore second baseman Delaney Darden went 0-4 against Providence with one walk. Darden has a .308 on-base percentage so far this season. She has yet to make an error in the field.
Georgetown (7-22, 0-2 Big East) lost both games in a Saturday afternoon double-header against the Providence Friars (5-16, 2-0 Big East), with a score of 4-1 in game one and 2-1 in game two. A third game of the series was scheduled for Sunday but was cancelled because of inclement weather conditions.
The Hoyas have averaged just 1.06 runs per game in their last 15 games, with four hits and one run in both games of their opening Big East series.
Sophomore first baseman Noelle Holiday and freshman infielder Savannah Jones led the team with three hits and two hits, respectively, over the weekend, with each responsible for two RBIs. Sophomore pitcher Anna Brooks Pacha was the starter in the first game, giving up three hits and four runs over 4½  innings; freshman London Diller pitched a complete game in the latter game of the double header, giving up four hits and two runs.
The Hoyas hope to get back on track on Wednesday, March 27 against Kent State (15-11, 2-1 Big East) at the Washington Nationals Youth Academy in Washington, D.C.
